Some Interesting Smurf Facts

Most smurfs are 100 years old!
With the exception of Papa smurf, Baby smurf, Smurfette, Nanny and Grandpa, all smurfs are believed to be 100 years old.

How many smurfs are there?
In 1958, there were originally 99 smurfs. This number increased as new smurf characters appeared, such as Sassette and Nanny. New smurfs are still being created today, and many old smurfs are extremely rare and collectable.

The smurf language
The main characteristic of the smurf language is the frequent use of the word "smurf". The smurfs replace enough nouns and verbs in everyday speech with "smurf" as to make their conversations barely understandable to a human. e.g. "We're going smurfing on the River Smurf today."

Smufette is not a real smurf!
Smurfette was created by the evil wizard Gargamel, and so she is not one of the original smurfs.
